NComputing Inc., the manufacturer of hardware and software to create virtual desktops and known for its low-cost computing solutions, recently launched Numo. It is a chip that will put virtualized Windows and Linux applications on any device – like smart TVs, set-top boxes, media players, eBooks and will also make client computing way cheaper than it is.

It is a dual-core ARM CPU with embedded media processors which support dynamic bandwidth management, codecs and multiple protocols. Its graphics subsystem is Windows-compliant.

NComputing mentions that the chip and under $10 bucks worth of parts, will turn any device into a multimedia PC running applications locally and across the cloud.

But these thin client computers cannot be used to run fast action games which limits its popularity at home. However, the invent of numo is a big step for NComputing which pulled it ahead of its competitors like Pano Logic, Kidaro, Userful etc.
